Address to the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association by our President, Bob Ridley to Announce the Launch of Building Better Home Builders

Good evening everyone, and thank you.  We are thrilled to join the Greater Ottawa Home Builder’s Association, and I really appreciate this opportunity to provide an overview of our business on behalf of all of us at Building Better Home Builders.  I should also note that this business is the realization of a personal dream of mine.

Simply put, our name says it all, we want to help builders, and others in our industry, improve their business operations, profits and satisfaction by helping them to improve their management practices.

There seems to be no shortage of challenges for our industry: cutting costs, improving margins, increasing sales, managing customer experience, planning for the short- and long-term, getting organized, making better use of technology, improving communications….I could go on and on!

The concept for our business originated in our discussions with a great many in our industry, nearly all of whom could readily identify a number of business challenges, or opportunities for improvement, that could be addressed if they only had the right kind of assistance.

We have responded with a range of services intended to complement and extend the capabilities of our clients.  Our key services fall into five different areas:

  1. Various techniques to improve operations, such as cost management, project management and scheduling and better management of business processes.
  2. Better use of technology, for example the introduction of “in field” devices, web based applications and open source software solutions.
  3. Improved business planning and stewardship, including strategic and business planning, succession planning and competitive intelligence.
  4. Assistance with specific functional areas such as customer experience management, procurement, human resources management, risk management and health and safety.
  5. And finally, of course, problem-solving:

Our many past individual successes in the industry have given us the experience to meet client needs and we are focused on listening to, understanding, and resolving our client’s issues.

Most importantly, we have the resources and a business model that ensures creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
